Standard Industrial Modbus TCP/RTU/ASCII Network Integration

PLANET has added the Industrial Modbus TCP/IP Protocol to its easily-integrated industrial management level products that come with SCADA/HMI system and other data acquisition systems on factory floors. Moreover, the industrial IT SNMP network is upgraded to the Industrial automation Modbus TCP/IP network. PLANET industrial management level products with the Modbus TCP/IP Protocol offer flexible network connectivity solutions for the industrial automation environment.

To complete the industrial automation environment application solution, PLANET has announced a first industrial level 1-port RS232/422/485 Modbus Gateway, IMG-2100T, a bridge that converts between Modbus TCP/IP Protocol and Modbus RTU/ASCII Protocol. It features a wide operating temperature range from -40 to 75 degrees C and a compact but rugged IP30 metal housing.

CP202-2CI is a CAN server that has integrated 2 CAN ports and 1 Ethernet port. It can implement interconnection between CAN-Bus network and Ethernet to further extend the communication range of CAN-Bus network. This product supports 2 CAN to 1 100M Ethernet copper port and adopts wall mounting which can meet the requirements of different scenes.

CAN server supports multiple network protocols, such as TCP, UDP, TELNET, ARP, ICMP, HTTP, DNS and DHCP protocols. As directly mountable or firmly attachable DIN rail device, the adaptors netLINK-MPI and netTAP-MPI replace expensive CP communication processors. The adaptors allow the programming, the visualization and the control of S7-200®, S7-300® or S7-400® PLCs via Ethernet.

The provided driver integrates into all well-known SIMATIC S7® engineering tools like STEP7® or TIA portal as a PG/PC programming interface. The device is set up with the engineering tool or conventional web browsers via the integrated web configuration pages.

The adaptors are suitable to program or change S7-PLC control programs and may serve to engineer HMI devices with the visualization software WinCC. By supporting the ”ISO on TCP“ RFC1006 Ethernet protocol, any third party or SIMATIC® visualization station can be coupled to the PLC. Once integrated into the office or plant network and connected to the internet, remote maintenance and logging over a router are also possible since plain TCP/IP protocol access mechanisms are used.

Organized in a network, direct communication between two or several PLCs via Ethernet can be realized. Even a coupling of PLCs without Ethernet port is possible using two adapters in conjunction. Fully integrated PROFIBUS diagnostics and Master Class 2 DPV1 services allow the unrestricted DP Slave device configuration and parameterization in STEP7®.

A memory card slot allows the user to save firmware and configuration data on a removable card. In case of failure all that is necessary to bring the plant back on line within seconds is to move the memory card from the old netTAP 100 onto a spare unit.

Apart from standard protocols, netTAP 100 supports the creation of serial protocols with the Lua-based scripting language netSCRIPT. A full featured development environment is included within the delivery. The gateway netTAP 151 transmits IO data bidirectionally between any two industrial Real-Time Ethernet networks. It is the ideal solution for installations with heterogenous networks or such of the same kind to exchange data across given network boundaries. With more than 25 different combinations of the protocols PROFINET, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, POWERLINK and Sercos, the device series provides a solution for any conversion.

The integration as simple IO device into the primary network makes the converter compatible with any common PLC. On the secondary side it works either as IO device too or controls a subordinate network as a bus master. The length of the IO data can be scaled to any application and the data in between can be mapped on byte level arbitrarily.

Secure network separation is provided by two Ethernet controllers, each connected to a Dual Ethernet port with integrated switch. That allows realizing star, ring and inline network topologies without further peripherals.
